Goodbye, five sixteen and one half.

I thought it was only fair to showcase my favorite part of my apartment.
I'll really miss my giant kitchen, the insane amount of counter space and all of these cabinets!
I'll be officially moved by April 30th and I'm getting excited.
We found an apartment with hardwood floors, a sunroom and a lovely backyard that we're applying for soon.
I'm praying and crossing my fingers that we get it!

I'm shooting a wedding this weekend in Princeton and I'm trying to prepare myself for shooting indoors since it's supposed to snow..
Speaking of, what happened to Spring?

--

I finally finished sowing seeds indoors today so they'll be ready to plant by mid May.
Tomatoes, LOTS of peppers, zucchini, onions, etc etc.
I'm trying to grow a few different kinds of flowers, including poppies this year too. My mom has never been able to grow them so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Big news for me: I started working out four days ago and it feels great.
Myra and I jogged a mile at the Y yesterday! We were so exhausted afterward and I'm still a little sore. Today was my day to rest (other than work!) but tomorrow I'm going back at it!

Only a month to find a second job and get packed up! Time to get busy! :)

BEACH !

Zack and I left for the beach last Saturday and arrived home yesterday.
I can't remember the last time I had so much fun! Easily one of the best weeks of my life.

We spent lots of time with our feet in the sand (my sunburned legs can attest)
and enjoyed lots of good food, including the best falafel I've ever eaten.
And to top it all off, even managed to nerd out in the evenings and made it five hours into Final Fantasy XIII.

We went to the aquarium and I took a few photos there, but my camera battery died soon after and I accidentally left my charger at home.
Therefore, most of these photos were taken with my phone.

Mokins in the backseat.

First day on the beach was chilly!

A nice lady offered to take our picture!

Feeling a little green.

Picked up this sweater from Goodwill last week. :)

Counting days.

I'm trying to enjoy the remainder of my time here.
I finally found out a few days ago that I'll need to move by the end of April.
Leaving is hard, but I feel that this place is what I needed to feel like myself again.
I'll indeed miss my friends, but I can leave knowing that I brought a few people together. :)
and I know that I'll never be too far away.

I plan to settle on a place to move into and start packing when we return from the beach.
I'm excited and sad, but know in my heart that this is the next chapter for me.

For now, ginger tea then off to work.

..but instead.

Painting = fun.

Started this one last night and finished up today. I really like it.
Painting really relaxes me and makes me happy.

My beautiful begonia that I purchased last week:

I now have a grand total of ten houseplants and they are all doing great!

Beach in exactly.. FOUR DAYS.

dark and secret places.

"midnight."

forever remembering you:

tower up into the night like a young tree

flame

the other would be gone,

demolished

remembering you

stillness and the memory

would become too great

smiling through the bright film of tears.

glorious a thing it is to love and be loved

Hello, darling.

Finally home after a great weekend.
Beach in a WEEK, so excited!

I have a wedding coming up on April 2nd and I'm trying to prepare myself. Weddings always make me extremely nervous.

Over the past few months, I've been doing some collaging and painting which isn't typical of me, but I'm really enjoying it.

something I'm currently working on:

and probably my favorite so far:

My friend Haley posted a photo of two paintings that I did for her here.
I did two more exactly like those for my room. :)

--

I'm also trying to prepare for moving soon. I looked at a beautiful apartment today with refinished hardwood floors and a sunroom. Imagine that!
I've wanted a place with a sunroom for as long as I can remember.
It won't be ready until mid April which is perfect, and the same landlord is remodeling another apartment that is similar but it isn't ready to show yet. I'm excited to see it!

Now I'm off to finish my protein smoothie..

Asheville.

I'm enjoying a bowl of delicious black bean soup that I made last night.
Check out that recipe, it's worth it.
There's a crazy conversation going on between a flock of blackbirds outside of my window
and I've tried to take their photo but they keep flying away.

This past weekend Zack and I ventured to Asheville and it was just as awesome as I had expected!
Oh, the restaurants! I'm seriously excited to go back this summer just for the food.
When we arrived, we had to quickly learn our way around downtown and find a a place to stay the night.
We ended up finding a relatively cheap room from a little Indian man who was cooking delicious food in the kitchen adjacent to the motel office, haha.
The bathroom inside of our hotel room was turquoise and peach! Even the sink/tub/toilet was turquoise. It felt a little like home. ;)
We ate at Mellow Mushroom (not as good as the one in Greensboro imo!) and then made our way to see Bright Eyes/Cursive. They both put on a great show, mmmyes.
The next morning we ate at The Laughing Seed and I had the chickpea minestrone.. soo good.
Shortly after, we made our way across the street to Jerusalem Garden simply because I've needed falafel in my diet for some time. It was definitely no Jack's Corner but was still enjoyable!

It snowed on the way home and as much as I hate to admit it, it was breathtaking. I've never seen such beautiful mountains.
I can't wait to go back! I wasn't able to take any photos with my camera because it was raining/snowing the entire time we were there, but I did use the trusty iphone.

This weekend we're traveling to Greensboro to visit Kristin and Cameron and then heading down to Chapel Hill to see Rocky Votolato. Finally! I've missed seeing him twice and I am super excited!
I can't wait to enjoy a 65 degree Saturday in the SUN.

Silly boy.

Never, ever serious for photos.

"This is the first day of my life. I'm glad I didn't die before I met you, but now I don't care, I could go anywhere with you and I'd probably be happy."

Spring is coming.

Alisha and I decided to go to the park today and we had a great time just sitting on the bridge soaking up some sunshine.
Oh Spring, how I've missed you.

Bowl of Oranges.

Made prints of these for Zack's birthday and he loved them.
His favorite song here:
Bright Eyes- Bowl of Oranges

"Baby, don't worry cause now I got your back. And every time you feel like crying,
I'm gonna try and make you laugh. And if I can't, if it just hurts too bad,
then we will wait for it to pass and I will keep you company
through those days so long and black.
And we'll keep working on the problem we know we'll never solve
of Love's uneven remainders, our lives are fractions of a whole.
But if the world could remain within a frame like a painting on a wall.
Then I think we would see the beauty then
and we would stand staring in awe at our still lives posed like a bowl of oranges,
like a story told by the fault lines and the soil."
